About this property

Welcome to Old Orchard Beach Inn

Old Orchard Beach Inn is housed in a historic Victorian building dating back to the 1830s, noted as one of Maine’s premier inns. It offers a charming setting just a five-minute walk from the beach and pier, making it suitable for visitors seeking proximity to coastal attractions. The property features a porch with rocking chairs, reflecting its period-inspired character, and provides essential comforts such as free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

While there is no on-site breakfast or restaurant, many reviews mention a decent continental breakfast served nearby, with staff praised for their helpfulness and attentiveness. Those sensitive to old buildings may want to note reports of creaky floors and thin walls, which are typical of properties with significant age.

Its location places guests near several popular family and sightseeing venues, including Palace Playland amusement park, the Portland Head Light lighthouse, and Funtown Splashtown USA waterpark. The inn is accessible, and major airports such as Portland International Jetport are within a short drive, adding convenience for travelers. Feedback reflects a mix of appreciation for the inn’s historic charm and value, alongside mentions of some small rooms and dated furnishings in need of updates. The staff frequently receives positive remarks for service and accommodating guest needs, including flexible check-in and check-out arrangements. This makes the inn a practical choice for travelers who prioritize location and character over modern amenities.

The room was spacious, clean and lovely. The breakfast included was pretty decent! Just a couple of cons: the TV wouldn’t connect to any network, so only the local channels were available. Also, the building is very old, so it squeaks and you can hear the water very loudly when it flushes from the rooms above. But hey, it’s a historic home, what you want? I recommend bringing ear plugs!

Rooms are very small. Only full size bed in the room we had. Stairs are very steep due to this place being built over 100 years ago we were told. Facility was clean and staff were helpful with the stairs . Breakfast was cold and not very tasteful, we left and ate elsewhere.

good price for the area. location is right at the top of the beach strip so it’s great. rooms are definitely old but we saw that from the pictures. the mattresses however were so old that they had two sunken in spots on each side and when you laid on it you could feel the springs in your back. walls were also extremely thin. has a pool area and small breakfast variety. overall pretty good value for the price though.

My family stayed here while visiting me. The check in was smooth and the manager overheard our conversation and kindly granted them a late check out without a second thought. They are coming back a second time next weekend and I am very comfortable with knowing they'll have a happy stay. Clean, comfortable and pleasant with a lovely breakfast. The lady who makes the food is also so kind and has a great kitty cat

We stayed at the Inn but there's also a bed and breakfast on the property. Great continental breakfast included. A short walk to the ocean and shops. Lots of things for the kiddos to do. I had a really nice time. One thing though, if you have trouble with stairs, ask to be put on the bottom floor. Hubby had trouble navigating the stairs so the general manager, Omar, upgraded us to the downstairs at no extra charge. This was wonderful. The staff is so courteous. I would love to stay here again. Thank you for having us.

First-This is actually two BnBs. There is the inn, and right next door (separated by one small house) is the Atlantic Birches. OOB Inn owns both. The pool, breakfast and check-in are at The Birches. All day coffee and tea are at The Inn. They are literally a stones throw away from each other so it's no different than going to any hotel with mulitiple buildings. Checknin was a little confusing because I didn't know there were two properties. I went to the Inn & there was a sign on the desk that said to go to property 3, but that doesn't make sense to anyone. I would suggest it be changed to say "Check in is next door by the pool at Atlantic Birches. Exit to the left, take a left & walk through the parking lot". Luckily an employee just happened to be coming down the stairs at The Inn and could direct me otherwise I wouldn't have any clue. There is a number you can call. Check in was super smooth & the young people that work there are extremely nice. I think someone posted that they were pissed because the staff "barely spoke english". Thats a bunch of BS & frankly sounds racist. The staff, like ALL hotel staff at all OOB hotels are multi-lingual & may have accents, but speak perfect english (and probably french, german & many other languages) & understand it perfectly well. Breakfast is not "at a random hotel down the street". It is right next door. If you stand on the porch of The Birches and throw a pebble, you'll hit The Inn. Breakfast is buffet, eggs sausage, homefries, assorted breads like bagels and english muffins, mini muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, quality bottles of juice, coffee, tea, condiments. There is a large dining area, a smaller one, and french doors that open to the wrap around porch. The outdoor facade of the Inn needs some serious work, but the inside is absolutely lovely. I think the pics on Expedia are really old. I stayed at The Birches. Both have antique furniture and decor, which is really beautiful and in keeping with the historical preservation of both buildings. The Inn is over 300yrs old and The Birches is almost 200. It really is astounding how well preserved these places are. The inside of the Birches is really just so beautiful. Gleaming hardwood, super super clean, the stairs going up to the second floor have a unique nook that you very rarely see. Decades and decades ago inn's were sometimes built with prayer nooks where you could kneel, & there would be an alter with statues of saints, candles etc & sometimes a stained glass window. The nook here has been transformed into a cute ocean theme decorative area, with the stained glass having been replaced with a rainbow seaglass style window instead. I thought it was really cool. It appeared to me that a guest could add a little shell of their own. There is also an antique bookcase with older books in both french and english. I also thought this was cool. Our room was The Alberta aka the deluxe room, which had a queen bed and a twin. The room itself looked brand spanking new as if it had been freshly wallpapered & redone right before we came, which shows how much care is put into upkeep because obviously that was not the case. The reason my review has 4 stars instead of 5 is twofold. 1. there were no curtains, only blinds. 2. the beds, especially the twin, were not very comfortable. The twin felt like it was stuffed to the max with sawdust. Laying on a floor is more comfortable. The queen had a sagging boxspring so the bed was uneven. My daughter almost fell off, which I thought was funny but if you were sleeping it wouldnt be funny at all. I always expect uncomfy beds because the only point of comparison is your own bed, but I can not do no curtains. I like absolute dark when I go to sleep & unfortunately due to safety lights around the property the room never got dark & was lit up like a candle by 5am. The area where the twin bed is was dark, but the bed was too uncomfortable to use, both for me & my 9yo who is a twig. The pool could use some work. It's clean but needs maintenence.
